Vallejo Logo Animation
This is my first project from Gunner School. I chose a company that I really like as I use their paint products. After reading about their identity refresh, I tried to capture the multiple meanings packed into the brand. Their logo is meant to reflect inspiration, symbolize a container for creativity and inspiration, and in shape be an abstraction of loading a paintbrush. The idea behind my animation is what happens when inspiration hits. An idea forms, paint is chosen, brush strokes are formed and along with you on the journey is Vallejo.

How did you do the brush strokes?
I found a free pack of paint stroke brushes. Then after finding a set I wanted to use, I brought them into Illustrator and used trace image to vectorize them. Then to animate them I made a precomp for each one. Duplicate the stroke, matte the one under it to it, then animate it sliding from the edge to the resting positon. Don’t forget a little turbulent displace too.

What about the text reveal?
I found some cool tutorials about making a brush stroke out of a precomp with fractal noise and played with the settings until it looked right. Then it’s putting trim paths, trace paths, and the brush precomp together.

How was the splatters done?
Similar to the brush strokes, found a free splatter brush pack, vectorized it, then animated a simple choker effect.
